Placing Photos in Type in Adobe Illustrator

It’s a nice look, if you have the right photo, to have it place it in some type instead of just using a solid color. And you can do it a few different ways in Illustrator.

In this Episode add a photo to editable text as well as type that’s been outlined. Sounds simple, but there are some important things to know besides just placing the photo.

In this Episode you’ll see:

  • How to easily place a photo in text that is still editable
  • How to not so easily place a photo in text that’s been outlined
  • How to edit the position of the image in the text after placement
  • How to change the photo easily after placement
  • Does image resolution matter
  • How to release the image from the text if you change your mind
  • Fancy terms like Clipping Mask and Compound Path
  • Other goodies

So find a photo you like and put some type on your artboard and follow along. You’ll be able to give your text a new look in no time.
