Remember the days when we thought the Magic Wand was truly magic? Or what about the Magnetic Lasso? Well, move over guys, because there’s a new power tool in town…the Object Selection Tool.

I’m not saying you’ll never need your old favorites again, because this tool isn’t perfect (which one is?). But it does a pretty good job of selecting objects in the image very quickly.

In the previous iteration of the Object Selection Tool, we had to go to all of the trouble to actually drag a marquee around what we wanted selected. Ugh…life was hard back then.

Now, because of the AI Adobe is building into Photoshop, it can recognize objects. It may not be able to tell you what they are, or what they smell like, but it can select them…um…a lot of the time.
